Triathlete

Katie is a multisport athlete based out of Venice Beach, California. She is a USAT Level I Triathlon Coach and instructs athletes in open water skills and swimming during the warmer months in SoCal. Over the past two years, Katie has begun transitioning into ultra marathon running and will be making her debut in the sport of Swimrun. She hopes to have her pro card by 2021.

As a community builder and fun-loving extrovert, Katie has brought together athletes from all over the globe with her humor and creative storytelling. In March of 2019, Katie sustained a fall on a training ride for Ironman Santa Rosa, resulting in three broken teeth, a sprained wrist, and a fractured jaw. Her road to recovery and resulting battle with mono prior to her race became an inspirational message for the tens of thousands of multisport athletes who follow her journey via social media. Most recently, Katie has launched ‘Destination Trilife,’ a website service bringing curated travel guides for fit people on the go. “I have the opportunity to share my love for endurance sports and travel in creative ways that help others. That has been a dream of mine, and I am finally living it.”

Q&A with Katie Godec

What’s the number one thing on your bucket list?

As deeply and truly as they terrify me, I secretly want to touch a shark in open water. I think they call that masochism.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

I have never been the person that wanted to fly. I would much rather have a power where I can move things with my mind. That is so BA.

What’s your favorite workout song?

Without a doubt, the most danceable song on my playlist is Zero by Chris Brown. Because I like to dance while I work out.

Who’s your biggest supporter?

That’s a hard one. I can’t say that there is any one person who is the most supportive. What you find in triathlon is that it can be a lonely sport. 5AM call times, hours upon hours of moving in one direction. My training buddies and fellow athletes have been there for me time and time again. To shame me when I sleep in and to high five me after races.

What’s your go-to PowerBar product?

The Plant Protein bars are just delightful. They have saved me from passing out from hunger many times.
