Ultrarunner / Mountaineer
If your dreams don’t scare you they’re not big enough.
Originally from Germany, Sunny is a free spirit and adventurer. Formerly a hard-charging strategy consultant she turned her back on material possessions and a fast-track business career shortly after turning 30. Sunny has been on the road to run, climb and adventure full-time ever since. Her overarching passion is to be active and push her limits in the side and backcountry; this means that her outdoor pursuits span a multitude of sports from big wall climbs and multiday paddling trips to mountain trail races and everything in between. Sunny’s focal disciplines are ultra running and high altitude mountaineering.
She has completed several 100 Mile ultramarathons including the prestigious Western States 100 Endurance Run (2013), achieved a top ten finish in the 2016 USATF 100km trail championships, and explored the mountains of Bhutan and Nepal through multiday journey runs. As a mountaineer, Sunny has climbed extensively around the world. She has summited a variety of major peaks in the Himalayas, Andes, Alps and Rockies, often solo and/or unsupported. Sunny aspires to get more women into the mountains; she organizes all-female big mountain expeditions to empower women to learn and practice the skills required for self-sufficiency in a high altitude environment.

A solo ski traverse of Antarctica.

Time travel. There are so many places that I would have loved to have seen before they were developed; just think what Yosemite, Zion, or the Grand Canyon looked like 150 years ago. Or Everest for that matter.

What’s your go-to PowerBar product?
Performance Energy Blasts, particularly the Raspberry flavor; I could live off those for days.
