Safe and Sustainable Weight Loss

By:Tricia L. Griffin, RD, CSSD
A safe and sustainable way to lose weight is to take in about 500 fewer calories than you need each day. This will enable you to lose about 1 lb (0.45 kg) per week. Avoid severely restricting calories, as this can make it harder to continue training and can increase the chance of getting colds. While trimming calories, consuming a little extra protein will help reduce muscle loss and can help you feel more satisfied.
