Three Top 5 Titles For Eliminator
When Labor Day weekend comes around most of our riders start feeling that championship bug as they make their way to Louisville, Kentucky during the prior week. Each year the National Bicycle League holds their National Championships as the Grand’s. Situated in a huge state park, this event draws 5,000 people watching the national titles come into play.Eliminator had fielded a team of riders at the west coast nationals, and most had respectively moved into the top 10 in rankings prior to the championship weekend. With only select events on the west coast, some of the team riders didn’t grab the scores they needed with the lower rider count and combined classes. By the weekend and the National Championship we had Nathan Mellone, Our newly signed rider Tas Slavin and Cody Wilson racing for top 5 titles over the Grand’s weekend. Tas did an excellent job and proved why he is making his way to our team immediately following the weekend. Tas won some rounds and progressed to the main event on both of his bicycles. As the points were totaled it showed Tas 5th in the nation for the heated 17-18 expert class and 2nd in the 17-24 cruiser bicycle class. Cody Wilson had no problem making his way from the qualifying rounds but got held up with nearly a wreck in the semi-main event causing a 5th place and ironically once the points were totaled he finished 5th for the year. Nathan Mellone had a tough weekend as he spent the end of his time in the 19-25 expert class, but did finish 16th for the year end points. The NBL will start the national series for 2011 over the Thanksgiving holiday, followed by a race after Christmas. Once 2011 starts, each region will host 5 national events during the season and our riders will be competing at all 5 west coast locations to continue the search for our national #1 titles in 2011.
