California State Games

The California Eliminator riders made a quick 1 day trip to the US Olympic Training Center to take part in the California State Games multi-sport festival of Olympic-style competition for California’s amateur athletes of all ages and abilities. State Games is a community-based member of the United States Olympic Committee. The State Games concept was developed in New York in 1978 with the Empire State Games. Annually, more than 400,000 athletes compete in State Games nationwide. State Games feature various sports from the Olympic and Pan American Games programs as well as sports with regional popularity in each state. Racing was on the popular ABA Future BMX track in Chula Vista. The team came into the event with the only resident in the state holding Gold State Games of America Medals for BMX racing. At main time Nathan Mellone wasted no time getting some more medals for the team. Our first rider to race his main and more Gold hardware on the podium! As the afternoon of main events continued Austin Bateman took Silver, Craig & Ian Harvey took Bronze, and Cody Wilson got a Silver medal. Although the race was small and the competition was mainly combined classes our riders were still able to get qualified for the 2011 State Games of America.
