Transition....
This is my first blog so to begin with I'll give some background info about myself...I have loved lifting and training ever since I was introduced to it in high school. I started competing in strongman competitions my second year in college and have placed 3rd in two and 1st in another, obtaining an invitation to the National Comp. sanctioned through North American Strongman. This weekend was actually a year since my last competition...However, during the time I spent competing and training, I was addicted to rock and ice climbing as well. The one problem is, both passions rather contradict each other! I have now dedicated my time towards the latter...But what remains the same is the desire to train for optimal performance. My training routines have shifted from pushing my 1 RM to finding an equilibrium of cardiovascular endurance and strength. What I did find however, is the foundation of muscular strength that strongman training created, has helped my overall performance in the mountain environment substantially by creating a basis to build off of. I figured "Transitions" was a aptly named title for this blog...and if anyone wants to share any other personal stories your training regimens have changed over time or how you too have transitioned from one sport to another, please do share. In the meantime, keep living the dream!
