JIMMY WEBB EMBARKS UPON AN AMAZING CHALLENGE
Jimmy Webb, DVM, Teen Challenge Board Member and former San Francisco Forty‑Niner and San Diego Charger, is planning a cross-country bike ride to raise money for Teen Challenge San Joaquin Valley. Jimmy left Huntington Beach, California Tuesday (June 30th) and he plans to arrive at St, Augustine, Florida in early August sometime. His many supporters have offered pledges for this 3,000 mile journey, including PowerBar! Jimmy was a first round draft pick out of Mississippi State, played for the Forty-Niners 1975–1980, and was a member of the famed “Gold Rush” defensive line. Jimmy finished his NFL career as a member of the AFC Western Division Champion San Diego Chargers in 1981. Jimmy is now a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine who specializes in bovine embryo transplantation. For more information about Jimmy’s ride and how to pledge a sponsorship, please contact Roger Williams 209-238-0216 or bikingfortc@sbcglobal.net Jimmy's cause is a noble one. He is riding for Teen Challenge located in San Joaquin Valley. This is a faith-based rehabilitation and restoration program for men 18 and older with life-controlling addictions. Using proven methods and curriculum, they provide an intense 12 to 16 month residential program in a structured and caring environment. They also provide G.E.D. tutoring and “hands on” vocational training in several fields. Students are mentored, often by Teen Challenge graduates, who fully understand the path to recovery. Teen Challenge is primarily located at Faith Home Ranch, a 37 acre ranch at 6643 Faith Home Road in Ceres, California. The Modesto Bee covers Jimmy's journey! We wish Jimmy good luck! Here is a link to Jimmy's blog which will be updated regularly. He made it 105 miles today! Go Jimmy!
