Keeping fitness over the Holidays

The holidays can be a challenging time to make it to the pool or get in a good workout with all the goes on at this time of the year.  I always recommend being in the pool at least three times a week and that holds true at this time of the year.  Cut the duration of time spent in the pool if need be, 20 minutes is better than not swimming.  Keep the intevals short, you can get in a quality set of 50's.  300 warm up, 10 x 50 with 10 seconds rest, 2 x 200 steady with paddles and 30 seconds rest, 12 x 25- 3 steady, 3 easy, 3 steady, 3 easy 10-15 sec rest.  1500 yard set with quality. 30 x 50's:  you can mix it up with pace and stroke, but everything is straight through.  5 x 50 w/15 seconds rest, 5 x 50 IM switch w/15 seconds rest, 5 x 50 steady w/15 seconds rest, 5 x 50 15 seconds rest, 5 x 50 kick, 5 x 50 25 drill/25 swim.  1500 yard set Couple of ideas for workouts that are quality and have you out of the pool in 20-30 min depending on your level. Have a Happy Holiday and New Year!
