Feeling the water
You have probably heard the term "Feel the water" when you are swimming. Do you know what the water feels like? It is actually a nice feeling! You get this sensation after your hand enters the water in the scull phase of the underwater portion of the stroke. Here are a couple of drills to help develop one's feel for the water. Sculling, which is moving the hands from the elbow in and out underneath the water. I always use a pull buoy when doing sculling drills. Swimming with closed fists is another way to develop the feel of the water. Swim one length with both hands closed, fists, then the next with them open. It should be a nice feeling with the water when you get to open your hands!
I couldn't agree more! Of course, you were the one dialed in my swimming in the first place. Thanks Candy!
