Still Waiting For Winter!
I'm not going to lie, this has been one of the toughest years as a high school snowboard coach, ever. Limited terrain, lots of rain, wind, ice, freezing temperatures, the largest roster ever and more rain have hampered our best efforts to get some meaningful training in. I've quickly had to call on my creative side to find drills and activities that will help the team excel. Unfortunately, competitions have proved to be the best training and we have had to take all of our results with a grain of salt. With that said, both my boys and girls teams have won a majority of the events but I still feel like we are one step behind. On another note, my weekend program saw several kids enter their first ever USASA event two weeks ago. Neither made it through the SBX brackets to the finals but I am proud of both of them for getting out there and giving it a go. This is especially true for my little guy Jack. He's very quite and doesn't have a competitive bone in his body. It was gratifying to see him out there racing with kids who have been doing this for years and keeping up with them!
