Dominguez Hills Velodrome certification

This Saturday,  seven SportVelo athletes traveled to Long Beach to get certified at the Dominguez Hills Velodrome. Although we typically race and train at Hellyer Velodrome in San Jose, the Dominguez Hills Velodrome is radically different. First, it's indoors. Second, it's made of wood. Third it has a 45 degree angle! Super steep. Not only will elite track nationals be held at this velodrome, but the masters nationals will be held at a similar velodrome in Texas, and so we are all getting all the experience necessary to compete. We all took a short flight from San Francisco to Long Beach, rented a land yacht for all of us to travel from the airport, and then rented Felt track bikes at the velodrome. After a 2-hour session with our fabulous instructor, Andrew, we all understood the rules, how to handle the steep angle, and how to ride safely. Plus we all did a flying 200m to finish the day! A full day! Favorite PowerBar product: Peanut Butter Performance Bar an hour before the session.
