The week of 8/23 included some rare travel for work. I flew to Dallas to take a "Basic Ultrasound" course put on by my company, Sound-Eklin. We sell digital xray and ultrasound equipment to veterinarians - both small animal and equine vets. I learned a lot and the highlight was seeing 5 babies inside a momma cat. Another highlight was having dinner with my niece, Katy, who lives in Dallas. The travel cost me some training time, but I needed a bit of relief. Upon returning to San Diego I did the Tri Club race on Saturday. About 50 others joined me for a 1,500 meter swim in Mission Bay, followed by a 38 mile bike ride consisting of 8 laps around Fiesta Island, and finally an 8.3 mile run around Sea World and Mission Bay. It was a great speed workout to prepare me for Tri Worlds on 9/12. Immediately after the race I joined a lady who was just finishing the bike portion and re-did the run with her. It was a great training day! On Sunday I did a 62 mile bike ride out past the Wild Animal Park and did the climb up to Ramona. After Saturday's race effort I was just happy to log some relatively easy bike miles.
