Alter G Workouts!
This weekend (Saturday, Jan. 15th) was going to be my season opener in Seattle, Washington. However, with the sport of running not everything goes as planned. During one of my workouts at the end of December I had injured my adductor. At first I thought I would be able to run though this, but the more days I tried to run/ workout it seemed to get worse. After Christmas I went to a PT who thinks I just had a slightly pulled adductor. The last 2 weeks I have been very fortunate to be given permission to use an Alter G here in the Portland Area from Physical Therapist Sean Daily at “Therapeutic Associates” in Lake Oswego, Oregon. This has helped keep my training sessions at very high level. I can’t be sure how much longer I will have to cross train on the elliptical and Alter G, but what I do know is I HAVE ALWAYS COME BACK FROM INJURY STRONGER! I really can’t explain it, but it’s true.I have posted a video above of one of my workouts done at 90% body weight on the Alter G from this past Monday 1-11-11. Yesterday, I also did a 3 mile tempo run at 90-94 % body weight in 14:14 and felt great. Let’s just hope my next post is a completely injury free post. I still have some hope of running a few races indoors, but if I have to miss out I’ll be ready for outdoors.
