Back from Duluth and off NYC for 5th Ave Mile!
I just got back from Duluth, Minnesota where I raced the "Minnesota Mile". The field was loaded with sub four-minute milers from Kenya, England and the USA. On a list of 20 men I was 12th with a personal best of 4:00.80 in the mile. I only ended up 9th place but can’t be to disappoint with it being such a strong field. However I know my fitness is much better then shown in this race. I took a risk last week with some really hard workouts in order to set myself up for "5th Ave Mile" in NYC on September 26th. This race will be one of the fastest mile fields in the world. I was very lucky to get an entry with my 4:00 pr. Since my workouts are going so well, I am trying to set up a race on the track 3 days after 5th Ave Mile on a track on Long Island, NY and attempted to make it official and break that amazing barrier of 4 minutes. I will keep everyone up to date as the details come in and the date gets closer.Well it’s getting late and I have an important week of training this week to prepare!
Sean, who is setting up the attempt. I was with Rich Degnan and Alex Couzzo last night and we were trying to set up a sub 4:00 during our Summer series. Who are you talking to to make this happen. Go to my 2nd Wind TC web site and give me a call. I can at least put you in touch with guys to make it happen for you. http://www.eteamz.com/2ndwindtrackclub/
Coach Penny- thanks for checking out my blog, I had spoken to a few people to help me set this up. I am in NYC right now getting ready for the Fifth Ave Mile tomorrow afternoon. After my race tomorrow (all goes well) I will give you a call! My workout have been killer and think I'm ready to make this happen!
Great job in Minnesota and on your whole season. You're such an inspiration for the rest of us!
