Summer Heat
It is hot! Summers in southern California get so hot that I have a whole different practice routine and nutrition diet. I feel that the strengh I gain training in the summer makes the rest of the year a breeze! If you haven't altered your habits to beat the heat, here are a few things that I do that you should try: 1. New Schedule. During the summer I schedule my training during the coolest parts of the day. To me that means 5 AM call time. To make up for the early rise, I nap during the hottest hours of the day. 2. Twice the sweat, triple the liquid. During summer I hydrate all hours I'm awake. Not just during the hours I'm training. In addition to water, replenish the electrolytes that you lose in sweat. Powerbar gels are great for this. 3. Stay in the shade. Anytime possible stay in the shade to avoid heat exhuastion. While riding my BMX bike I rest under a tree in between runs. I hope that helps! Let me know if you get the great results I did. Ben Snowden
