Goals
We all have goals. Right? Well, I have decided that I want to take my triathlons to the next level. Currently I am an age grouper. There are a lot of people who would be happy with what I have achieved. Please do not get me wrong, I am very happy with all of my achievements! Powerbar Team Elite is a big one that makes my smile every time I think about all the support they have given me! I do not want to be an age grouper any more. I want to become a professional triathlete. There, I said it! I have not said it in a public forum yet, this is the first time. I have told friends here and there, hired a coach, but I have not publically announced my goal of becoming a professional triathlete. My plan is to continue teaching high school this year and focus on each of the three disciplines of triathlons all fall and winter. Next summer, 2012, I will do a few critical races that will show me how I rank amoung my competitors and how much I have grown as an athlete. I am very excited about this! I have been working with Chris Bagg as my coach, he is a strong athlete and great coach! I will keep you updated on my progress towards this goal. Although it is a high one, I know I will achieve it!

CD'A Race report
This is me at the finish of the Couer D'Alene Ironman. I have had a number of people ask me how the race went. Sadly, it did not go as I planned. I need to thank powerbar for their support and wonderful nutrition. Without them, I would be laying on the race course right now! The swim was the best part of the entire race. Sure, I got a bloody noise, a cut on my foot, and I threw up, but I was full of energy and came out of the water feeling the best I did all day! Looking back, the reason I did so well on the swim was because I was freshly fueled with a bagel, avacado, and a peanut butter powerbar. After the swim I transitioned nicely to the bike with no problems. The bike, like the swim was two loops, two very hilly 56 mile loops! It is a beautiful course that takes you though the town and into the country, I enjoyed every bit of it. I completed the first loop of the bike course with an average speed of over 20 mpg. The second loop was when I bombed. I ignored my body and did not put the correct amount of fuel in it. When mile 70 rolled around, I was in tears because it hurt so badly. I had only put 400 calories in my body at this point. Again, I want to thank powerbar for their suppor and the wonderful nutrition they have to offer! I ate a powerbar on the bike, but that was about it. I made it throught the bike with an overall average of 18 mph which really is not bad considering. My transition from the bike to the run was smooth and my legs somehow did not feel as bad as I thought they were going to. The marathon. This part of the race was the most painful after the first three miles. My original goal was to complete the race in under 12 hours and beat my first Ironman time by over 20 mintues. I realized that my goal was not going to happen when each mile was slower and slower. I drank water at each water station and continued to put one foot in front of the other. It was a huge boost to see my family when the run was looped into town. I love that about races! The support that I receive from my family and friend, God has blessed me! At mile 22, a fellow athlete gave me a ginger chew to suck on an that carried me through to the finish line. I had a very difficult time forcing myself to eat anything, sucking on the ginger snap was all I could do. I should suggest to powerbar to have a product with ginger in it.. Over all, I am happy with the way I finished the race but upset at myself for not taking in more nutrition on the bike. At first glance of my race report, you may not think that I am happy with my results but I am. I finished the race with taking in only 500 calories during the entire race, that has to be some kind of record! That is how amazing powerbar is! Powerbar gave me the energy to complete an Ironman with only 500 calories in my body in 12:56. Each race is a learning experience, I will eat more next time. Thank you to my sponsors, family, friends, and my boyfriend! It was a fun day, but not at the time..
End of Year
It's the end of the school year! Seriously, I can't believe it's gone by so quickly. It's been a great year working at the local high school, I have absolutely loved it! The people I work with and the students are all great! I do have one complaint, but it's not about work, it's about my training! I've been training for an ironman that's in two weeks. My complaint is that I've had to train all winter. That may not seem like a big deal, but it's no fun biking when there's frost on the road. Needless to say, I'll probably not sign up for a spring ironman again. It's way more fun training in the summer, although I have all summer to relax..! Bring on the summer!
7 weeks
There are only seven more weeks until my ironman! I'm can't believe that it is so close, and yet I feel that I am not prepared at all. My training this time around compared to last year seems to be lacking. I feel like I've slacked in some of my workouts and yet I remember feeling this way last year and did great on race day! Time will tell. Trust the training, I know I did before and it worked out perfectly!
