Be grateful for the little things in life!

Too often we take things in life for granted. We get busy, and caught up in life, and forget to be thankful for all the incredible things we are blessed with in life. All the kids at tennis camp this week are blessed with the ability to spend a week playing tennis, having fun, hanging out with friends. They have a roof over their heads and great food to eat. They can run, jump, and hit forehands all day long! But it's so easy for kids to overlook all these things. When something doesn't go your way, remember the many good things that do happen to you! Wake up each morning and be thankful for what you have! When you start realizing all the great things in life you are blessed with, it makes life a lot better, and all the challenges in life a lot easier to deal with!

Stop complaining....kill the little monster!

Everyone knows the person who complains about everything. They are constantly negative....the "Debbie Downer" of the group. It's time to change that. Stop complaining. Look for the positives in the day. Every single person has the choice to be in a good mood or a bad mood when they wake up in the morning. If they are going to be positive, or negative. Be the person who chooses to be positive! Let's face it, NO ONE wants to be around a negative person...a person who is constantly bringing you down. So kill that little monster, those small complaints that keep coming out of your mouth, and begin to look at life in a more positive light It will not only make your life better, but it will make the lives of the people around you better, also!

LOVE THE BATTLE!

As we hit the courts today, we emphasized the importance of "Loving the Battle." The quicker you can learn to love the battle, the more improvement you will see, the greater success you will have, and the more fun you will have! Whether you're down 6-1, 5-0 or playing in a third-set tiebreaker, you have to LOVE the battle! It's easy to love it when you're not being challenged, but you need to love it when you're right in the middle of the battle! This is when the good players become great! The campers competed great after the life lesson! Thanks to PowerBar for supplying some needed PowerBars and PowerBar gels. It gave us an energy boost in the middle of the day! The campers loved it!

Paying Attention! ...simple concept, but do you do it?

Today's lesson of the day was learning to pay attention. It sounds like a simple concept, but how many really do it? We believe it's so important, because it's the only way to gain knowledge. The more you pay attention, on and off the court, the more knowledge you will absorb. Key points: Eye contact! LOOK at the person who is speaking. Have positive body language. Be engaged in the conversation. Don't allow your mind to wander to outside, random thoughts that are irrelevant to what is being said. Absorb the information! These points can be used on the court, during camps or clinics, in school, in meetings, even at a job. Start doing these things and you'll be amazed at how much more knowledge you gain in a day!

Celebrate the little things!

We are off to a great start for our tennis camps this week! The kids are bringing awesome energy! Today, we talked about how important it is to celebrate the little things in life! Too often, we focus on the grand events in life, and ignore everything else. It's important to also focus on the small victories in life! It may be something as small as opening a door for someone, making a new friend or trying a new sport. On the tennis court, it may be as simple as perfecting the set on your forehand. Whether your on the court or off, always remember to celebrate the little things in life! It will make living much more grand!
