Knee repair

Not just forced rest. Apparently I have been racing on a torn meniscus. Had the knee repaired Fri, and I am now sitting around letting the swelling go down. Hoping to be able to get on a stationary bike this week. This shouldn't be a huge setback. Looking forward to a full racing season.

Time to start getting started

It's time to start getting back into a regular regimen of excercise. It has been very cold up here in the northeast, but noon is not too bad a time to go out for a 3 mile run. Next month Team in Training starts recruiting for their events. I better have something in the tank, if I am going to help anyone get ready for their first triathlon. Jan is an exciting month, I love starting to coach people who never belived they could do a triathlon, up to when they complete their first olympic event. Learning to swim, or ride, or how to run easier. Nutrition for a four hour event. It is all so exciting, and I am looking forward to 2011. Hope you are getting ready for the next season. Have fun, train hard, and Be Great

Forced rest

I feel great. I have been sleeping in and getting plenty of rest. It can be hard not getting up and going to the gym, or out for a ride, but it is nice sleeping in a bit, and not worring about getting in a workout. I also don't have to try and work runs and rides around family time. Nice! Soon it will be time to start getting ready for next year, until then I am going to enjoy the ride. I am still running about 10 to 15 miles a week. I don't want to lose everything I worked for.

Turkey Trot, and B2B

Happy Thanksgiving. That means eating until you can't bend, lots of good company, taking a moment to be thankful for the good things in our lives, and the Turkey Trot. For me that means a run to give back to the community, and a way to justify everything I'm going to eat in a few hours. It is also a way to see a lot of people from town, and wish them a happy holiday. Our local turkey trot benefits a local organization that helps families in need all through the year. What a great way to start off the holiday season.
Beach 2 Battleship race is in the books. 12 hours 53 min. I was pleased with my race. I am going to work on my marathon after the bike though. I feel I could shave another 45 min off there. The weather was perfect, and having my wife there to cheer me on was an added bonus. I am looking forward to a bit of down time for the off season, and then time to prep for next year.Have a great day.
