Ruben Najera

Ruben Najera is a semi-pro skateboarder. You’ll find him in music videos, skateboarding movies and magazines. Ruben claims the sport saved his life from turning down a wrong path. To inspire young athletes, he organizes events in Imperial County, CA.

  • Biggest obstacle/challenge
  • 1st place skateboarding Cannonball Run contest San Diego County. All of San Diego’s finest competed. My team and I won!
  • Superstitions
  • I have to do a few ollies on my board to stay warmed up, otherwise I feel like I’m going to freeze up.
  • Nobody knows…
  • I have done skateboarding Stunt work in movies also. Check out the movie “Border Lost” - you can find it just about anywhere. In the hotel lobby scene, I play 3 different bad guys.
  • Biggest athletic accomplishment
  • Being featured in magazine ads, skateboarding videos, and skateboarding in music videos.
  • Favorite thing about training
  • Training keeps you on the edge. It keeps you warmed up and gets you ready for contests and improves your skills on the board. Plus you learn new tricks and learn to polish old ones.
  • Least favorite thing about training
  • Getting hurt while training is horrible because you don’t expect to get hurt when you’re just supposed to be practicing. Always have to be careful out there.

  • I’m pretty open minded when it comes to music but I like to change up my tunes routinely. I don’t like to have the same thing playing all the time.
  • Unusual training regimens
  • I watch skateboarding videos before I go skate. They pump me up and inspire me to do greater things.
