Ian Murray is a competitive triathlete and coach, assistant coach for the USAT (ITU World Cup Madrid 2008), and he is currently head coach of the L.A. Tri Club. He is proud of his highly acclaimed instructional DVD, “Triathlon Training Series"

  • Holding back on the bike so I can still run well after: all I want to do is HAMMER!!!

  • I'm so addicted to my pre-race smoothie that I own a battery-operated blender so I'm never left high and dry.
  • Nobody knows…
  • My mom owned the only laundromat in Aspen. One of my many jobs there was to clean the lint from the commercial dryers. Some people are grossed out by lint, but think about it...it's the cleanest dirt in the world — fuzzy, lovable.
  • Biggest athletic accomplishment
  • 13th overall at the first ever Off-Road Ironman!

  • The feeling that no matter what happens — earthquake, end of oil, locusts — I'm still gonna be functioning 100%

  • Auto exhaust.
  • Unusual training regimens
  • I ride with roadies a lot and get weird looks — it's because there's always a pair of running shoes in my back pockets that I slip into after the town line sprint. "
